Party Planning Made Easy!
- Start planning early and mail invitations at least three weeks before the party.
- Be sure your guests know what to expect in regard to weather and proper attire. This holds especially true for evening cocktail parties, morning brunch buffets or outdoor parties.
- Pay attention to your time and budget. It is better to limit the choices than to have a wide array of cheap food and drink items.
- Serve punch or sparkling grape juice for a non- alcohol alternative.
- Try serving a buffet with a a themed menu, ethnic cuisine. You could also have a desert only buffet.
- Let loose your creativity with festive decorations! Try using different sizes of candles, or decorate the doorway and mantels with fresh flowers and greenery. Weave greenery and lighting along stair rails, mantels and around the buffet tables.
- Designate spot for guests' purses, coats and gifts.
- Program theme music on cassettes or CDs to last the entire party.
- You don't have to do everything yourself! Be sure that you have plenty of help during the party so that you can greet, entertain and enjoy your guests.
- Very important - send thank-you notes immediately after the party.
